Connectivity for the City of Houston
HOUSTON, TX -Mayor Annise Parker today announced the beta launch of Houston's Voice in partnership with Comcast. Houston's Voice is the locally branded website under the Project Open Voice (POV) initiative dedicated to the discovery of local content, including public, educational, governmental (PEG) programming. Of the six pilot communities, Mayor Parker was first to publicly announce the POV beta launch.
"Houston's Voice is a welcomed OnDemand and online resource," said Houston Mayor Annise Parker. "Due to Comcast's vision and support, residents can unite online, share resources, and discover a Houston they never knew. Houston's Voice will ultimately facilitate delivery of exciting content showcasing the talent and vibrancy of the place we call home to our desktops and mobile phones."
Houston was chosen by Comcast to be one of the six pilot cities due to its large, diverse community and geography, and its strong PEG environment. The five other participants are: Fresno, CA; Hialeah, FL; Peterborough, NH; Philadelphia, PA; and Medford, MA. Each market's online presence is distinctively named.
